Eight months and one project later...
Things have been really busy in my neck of the woods. So much has happened in the last seven months. My family and I moved to a new house in July, my daughter had her third birthday, and my son started Kindergarten in August and celebrated his sixth birthday in October. Thanksgiving and Christmas kept me busy in November and December. I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things, getting the new house in order and school routines back in place.
With all this going on, I haven’t had much time for crochet or crafts. Some of the crafty things that have even somewhat become traditions were put on the back burner this year. I made simple cakes and used store-bought decorations for the kids’ birthdays. I even bought their Halloween costumes this year. At least they didn’t seem to mind. My son, however, does occasionally remind me that he is patiently waiting for a new “yarn sweater”.
I did manage to crochet a wall-hanging for my mother-in-law for her birthday. It was my first attempt at filet crochet. I used Lily Sugar’n Cream and sewed it to a really pretty fabric backing. I used a free filet chart for this project--Colonial Cameo Design by Sandi Marshall. I was pretty happy with it and she seems to like it. She hung it in a niche near her front door. The recess is painted a dark red color which really complements the fabric used. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the finished hanging. Next time I go to my mil's house I'll take a shot and post it in the gallery.
