Spring. Sprang. Sprung.
Spring is here and I am happy! I’m not usually one to get all bubbly and happy for spring, but this year is different. Why? Is it because Mr. Sun is back and the air is warm and fresh? No, although I love me some warm weather. Is it the chirping of birds and swaying sound of the trees that has me giddy? Nope. But that’s good too. I’ll tell you why I have to smile every time I step out onto my back porch. It’s because I have the coolest trees ever! Yep, that’s right. My trees are cooler than yours. First of all, the trees behind my fence stayed green all winter. And if that’s not enough, when spring came around, they all gave winter the finger! Ha! Take that, winter!
But that’s not all. My trooper of a tree had me fooled. I thought it was dead, and then poof, overnight it sprouted leaves. I’m convinced it is a magic tree and I will be asking it for random things as long as it lives—which I didn’t expect to be long since Benny keeps jumping up and ripping off its branches.
And if that’s not enough, what really makes me smile is my favorite tree of all. I sit and watch it sway in the breeze and I have to laugh out loud. My husband looks at me like I’m losing my marbles, but it just makes me so happy! It bears an uncanny
resemblance to a character well-known and loved by kids around the world. Take a look!

Spring also put me in the mood to plant something. No, that’s not a joke. I don’t expect it to grow or anything. My kids got seed pail kits so we planted seeds in pails. ;) There are sunflower and marigold seeds in each pail. After a few days, they have started to sprout and the kids are really excited! I hope I can keep them alive long enough for the kids to see them flower.
So we did our celebratory spring arrival planting and so far, so good. I'll leave the rest of the planting up to someone else. I'm happy just to sit out on my porch and stare at my Snuffy tree! ;)
Did you celebrate the arrival of spring? Have you seen any interesting trees lately? What did the coolest tree you ever saw look like?
