Crochet Christmas Gifts - Neckwarmer/Hat
I wanted to make my niece a scarf and hat set for Christmas, but time quickly slipped away from me and I knew that I wouldn't have time to make both. So my attention turned to creating something that could be used as a scarf or cowl and a hat. I considered making a scoodie--you know, the scarf with a fat middle so it can be worn as a hood, but I think they are better suited for grown women. Then I came across The Convertible by Deborah E. Burger. It's a neckwarmer. It's a hat. Jackpot!
I didn't use the same measurements OR stitch pattern OR hook size OR yarn, BUT I did use the same general method of construction and the directions for the last row (to put the drawstring through) and the actual drawstring.
I gave my niece two sets of wrist cuffs for her birthday a while back--a pair of orange ones and a pair of purple ones. I made the neckwarmer/hat in the same colors so she could wear them together.
All in all, I am pretty pleased with the outcome and I hope she likes her new accessory!
